Our roots · 1906

You have
people.

Your time is valuable, and so is your money.

We compare quotes, negotiate recurring costs and manage household projects, so you can make informed decisions without doing all the work yourself.

Start a conversation

We agree the scope and costs with you before work begins.

Leave it with us.

You should only have to explain it once.

When we begin working together, you have a named point of contact at The Retinue. You can text, call or email, whichever suits you. They bring in the right people and remain responsible for keeping you informed.

We keep a record of your conversations, decisions and approvals, with someone responsible for each request and its next step. We follow the work through to completion, so you can pick up where you left off without repeating the background or keeping track of the follow-up yourself.

How we help

The practical matters.
Properly taken care of.

The Retinue takes responsibility for the practical matters that compete for your time. We resolve problems, review costs and manage agreed projects.

01

Purchases, properly considered.

We establish what is needed, compare the options and negotiate the terms. You receive a solution ready to approve, with the full cost clear. We manage the purchase through completion.

02

The ongoing matters.

We review agreed contracts and recurring costs, resolve problems and arrange changes for your approval. Where the existing arrangement remains the right one, we say so.

03

Projects, seen through.

Enjoy shaping the result. We manage the budget, coordinate the people and see the work through. We bring you solutions when decisions arise, with approval for changes to the agreed cost or scope.

We agree what we will take responsibility for, your priorities, the budget and our fees.

Your involvement

Choose where to give your time.

Delegate

We solve it.
You approve.

We investigate the problem, settle the proposed terms and arrange the solution for your approval. Once authorised, we see it through.

Participate

Enjoy shaping it.
Leave the management to us.

Be involved in the decisions you enjoy. We manage the budget, coordinate the people and see the work through. Changes to the agreed cost or scope come to you for approval.

In your interests

The right answer may be
to keep what you have.

Our recommendations begin with what serves you. That may mean renegotiating, repairing, keeping what you have or making no purchase at all.

Our roots · 1906

Our roots go
back to 1906.

The story behind The Retinue reaches back to 1906. It spans India, Africa and the United States, with a family office in London.

That history informs how we work: know the people, understand the terms, and see things through.

A few practical questions

Before we begin.

What will this cost?

Our service is tailored to each family and their needs. Often, this means an annual membership of $20,000 or an agreed percentage of savings. If your family needs more support, the service can scale, with additional work charged at cost plus an agreed margin. We agree the scope, fees and any additional costs with you before work begins.

How does working together begin?

We agree what we will take responsibility for, your priorities, the budget and our fees. You choose the areas you want to stay involved in. We take care of the management. Start by telling us what you would like taken care of; sending an enquiry carries no purchase commitment.

How much do I need to be involved?

You choose the areas you want to stay involved in. We bring you a solution ready to approve, with the cost and terms clear. Approval authorises the agreed commitment; changes to its cost or scope come back to you first.

Does this always involve buying something?

A purchase is one possible answer. We may recommend renegotiating, repairing or keeping what you already have. An unnecessary purchase does not become a saving because it is discounted.

Do you negotiate for households together?

Where households need similar goods or services, we can negotiate together. Each household keeps its own brief and approval. We pursue terms that make sense for the purchase and explain the full cost.

What is within the scope?

We take on agreed purchases, contracts, recurring costs and practical projects. We do not manage investment accounts. We coordinate with your existing specialists when the work calls for them.

What happens to my answers?

We use your answers to understand household needs and follow up with your permission. Please leave out account numbers, policy numbers, medical details and other sensitive information. Read our privacy information.
